Not supposed to.
And for the record I never defended the cop. Was pretty obvious that the pregnant female was being confrontational with everyone from the start. She attempted to intimidate the other woman and then threw something at her car. When the officer arrived adn attempted to sort the situation out and keep the peace between the two women she refused to cooperate. Her dramatics displayed in the video are lost on me.
As far as the physical confrontation between the pregnant woman and the officer, I would not have handled it that way. Im not up to speed on California law or that departments policy but if he over stepped either I hope he receives a fair punishment. I believe being a police officer isn't a job where you can "wing it". You better know the laws you are enforcing and what actions are within the scope of your duties.
I guess im somewhat desensitized to the "police acting badly" videos on here and was more surprised by the pregnant woman's desire to be difficult when it was not necessary. Especially with her being in such a vulnerable state.
