Did the cop overreact, and overstepped his bounds in dealing with this woman? Yes.

Could the woman have avoided this ENTIRE situation by just answering basic, simple questions like her name? An even bigger yes.

That's what gets me. People scream bloody murder about how awful and terrible cops are, yet they provoke and prod them into overstepping their bounds. Just answer the got damn question and go on about your business.

OR the cop could have known he was out of his right to demand she supply anything once there was no incident. The school knows her name and that of her daughter. The cop was the one BREAKING HIS PROTOCOL and this has been reaffirmed by the supreme court.

The COP was the one provoking, yet you just want to blame the people.

Pinch yourself and wake up. Quit making excuses for a cop who obviously doesn't know the laws which he is sworn to uphold...do you get it yet?
