Worst turbulence 2 yrs ago flying AA from Japan to US. Somewhere ENE of Japan over Pacific we suddenly hit some really choppy air that racked and rocked the plane for what seemed like forever. Attendant fell to the floor. My wife helped her back up. EVERYBODY inside was quiet and scared. The worst of it went no more than 5-10 minutes, but bumps and jolts kept going for about 20-30 min after. No fun.

I flew from Seattle to New Orleans today and of the 5 hour flight (caused by rerouting around storms) we maybe had 20 minutes of smooth flying. Everything else was just awful

Sounds like we were on the same plane. had an identical experience around the same time. whenever I fly over the pacific I usually hit some chop seemingly out of nowhere over the middle of the ocean.
