I think you could make the argument that the pitch did cross the plate in the strike zone....it's not where it hits the mit. But it was close. But my understanding of the "unwritten rules" is that you don't argue balls and strikes that early in the game. Every ump is going to be slightly different so, so you give it a couple of at bats to at least see if he's calling it consistently. It was the first pitch of the at bat, so unless there's some history between the two, I don't get why Harper was making so much of a stink about it. You start jawing to the ump right away, it won't go well.

frick unwritten rules. If a pitch is low, then it's low. I don't care what your strike zone looks like. If your strike zone is any different than a normal strike zone, you're wrong and you should either fix it or you shouldn't be doing that job.

Harper really didn't do anything. If an ump is going to get his feelings hurt by body language like that, then he needs to look for a new job
