The real connections people are talking about aren't as easy to make as people are led to believe.
The brother of a girl I used to date, from Shreveport, graduated from Harvard. I know a guy from Lake Charles who went to Princeton. A distant cousin, from Arkansas, is a Columbia grad, as is my GF, who is from New Orleans. People from the South can and do go to the Ivy League and succeed.
