Broward County authorities Thursday arrested a Boynton Beach mother involved in a Palm Beach County court battle over whether to have her son circumcised.

Heather Hironimus, who has been in hiding for two months, was in custody and was being booked into the Broward County Jail, a jail employee said.

In March, Circuit Judge Jeffrey Gillen issued a warrant for Hironimus’ arrest after she failed to to appear in court with her 4-year-old son.

Hironimus, 31, and the child’s father, Dennis Nebus of Boca Raton, have been involved in a legal dispute over whether the child should be circumcised. Hironimus has said that she is opposed.

In February, Gillen signed an order for Hironimus to bring the boy to court and turn him over to Nebus. Gillen has given Nebus the authority have the circumcision done without Hironimus’ approval.

Through her attorney, she filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming the procedure would violate her son’s constitutional rights.

Hironimus reportedly agreed, as part of a 2012 paternity suit Nebus filed to establish his parental rights, that the boy could be circumcised as long as Nebus paid for it. She later said that she had second thoughts about it.

Last paragraph says it all. If mom agreed to it in writing, then we have no story here

Story sounds like a Greek tragedy:

"Hironimus was ordered to turn the boy over to Nebus..."
