exactly, not going to pay thousands for a medical prosthetic... but a cheap 3d printed finger... or maybe some sort of more affordable option so that he has a way to conceal when he wants to.

Conceal what? The 1/4" smaller middle finger? The kid is nine years old, a 3-D printed nub will really help him blend in among his peers.
