I'd request a reconsideration discussion first. Then if you still feel strongly about it, go to his superiors. You always run the risk of alienation or retaliation though when you do something like that.

not enough info.

do you have a relationship with your boss's boss?

are you willing to micro-manage the boss's choice, and train her to do it the way you would?

do you have education and skills that transfer elsewhere, i.e., can you find a better job?

boss may be intentionally undermining YOU.
