But anyway, understood that God isn't a get out of life free card, an ATM machine or a winning lottery ticket. But God deliver peace through the most difficult times if you believe.

The same god that is allowing the rape, violence, tragedy, etc. to occur to begin with? If children that are being abused on the daily pray enough, will they be granted peace?
I can say I've crawled out of a deep depression without the assistance of a god. Compassion and love conquers... praying to a god conjured up by mankind doesn't seem like understanding to me. But hey, organized religion was conjured up to control the lower classes anyways. Seems like it is still working.
