Look man, I'm gonna put your mind at ease here.
-If there was some kind of prophecy being fulfilled here, there wouldn't be a damn thing any of us could do about it. Might as well enjoy your life now, instead of worrying about tommorrow.
-If it's just Earth being Earth, well the same advice applies.

There is no fracking sites anywhere near Canton MS.. However the New Madrid fault line, one of the largest faults runs parallel to the MS River and close to canton.
You tell me what makes more sense
ETA: there is also a volcano under the Jackson Colessium

Must be all the global warming going on
You say that in jest, but it's kinda true.
Or, at least, climate can control plate tectonics.
Take for instance the Tibetan Plateau, which Himalayan mountains Mt. Everest and K2 are a part of. The plateau started forming about 50 million years ago. We have had uplift in North America younger than that, but it's all been eroded flat. Why hasn't the whole Tibetan Plateau been eroded flat, and why does it keep growing?
Well, for one, it's building from the ongoing collision of India and Asia. But this process outpaces erosion because erosion speeds it up!
That's right, the seasonal monsoons erode/denude the surface of sediments and rocks and this removes some downward forces on one part of the plate thereby freeing up vertical movement in the upwards direction...mountain building. Not only that, the portion of the plate the monsoon hits most becomes lighter than the other portions and changes the mass of the plate in that area, which changes the movement of the plate very slightly.
Global warming would increase these monsoonal effects and would drive Himalayan growth and Indian plate convergence rates!

ETA one other aspect that's really cool is the monsoon wouldn't be there if not for the Tibetan Plateau itself. It's a positive feedback system!

Did y'all know Baton Rouge has a fault line going from the mississipp river to the intersection of college and corporate. Also a fault line in denham springs
mehhh. Our soil is mucky enough that even with an active fault we wont feel an earthquake.
