No, there are no guarantees which is why it is a hard decision.
But, you either take risks on a four year shitty contract or take risks for one year and gamble on yourself you will significantly improve your stock.
If he knows he is innocent of any serious crime and teams are telling him they just can't take him while it lingers, it seems to me that the least riskiest path to a big pay day is sitting out one year rather than playing four.
