You think a team would spend a 1st round pick on a guy who hasn't played football in a year?

I think it's smart. If he doesn't get drafted he can clear his name for good and stay in shape and not get injured and he will be drafted in the first two rounds no doubt.

Why is this so hard to understand? If he goes undrafted, he then is an UDFA and cannot re-enter the 16 draft. He should have never made the comment about being unwilling to sign if he didn't go on day 2 of the draft. If had kept his mouth shut on this, maybe a team would have selected him in the 6th or 7th round. Then he could have refused to sign and then been eligible for the 16 draft.
