I think to pull it off you have to be amazing at guitar, and be able to play almost anything, otherwise you are just an amateur that nobody wants to hear.

Add to that, entertaining and fun, which even gifted musicians have trouble pulling off.
Very awkward and odd by default and should be avoided unless perhaps close friends who know you play and like to hear, sing along, whatever.
