Not bashing, just speaking statistically. I like Miles, but he isn't perfect. Many people were saying this was his worst year on the account of he fact that we went 8-5 and had some terrible blowout losses (17-0, 41-7). I always thought his worst year was 2012. We had all that 2011 talent return with a better qb situation and were nowhere near the team we were in 2011. That clemson bowl game was tough to watch. And not to mention the mass exodus of talent that occured right after.

Last year because he was given his "this is your one frick up" pass in 08 due to bad defense and a bad QB situation. Last year we had the best defense in the SEC and despite the past still managed to end up in a poor QB situation, which good planning and coaching could have prevented.

Miles put too much emphasis on Bama in 2012 and it showed. After that heartbreaking loss, the team gave up.

This. When you look at results vs. talent, 2012 was the one that was championship caliber. They flat out have up after the crushing Alabama defeat. 2006 shite the bed too. 2014 should have been a 10 win team.

Miles is still a top 10 coach though. Not too bad when you look at his "worst years".

No doubt we had a good defense last year, but they were very much to blame for the Mississippi St, Auburn, and Notre Dame losses. It's hard to pin the ND loss on Miles. I thought he had a great gameplan for that game in giving Jennings easy tight end routes and the trick play before half that was a TD. Chavis is all to blame for that game. He was absent.

yeah i would say 2008 too.

But i think we could have been at least 1 or 2 games better in 2008 if RP wasn't a shithed.

Maybe this year was worse because it was more of a self made problem having no QB.

although this year i feel like we would have won 9 games if Chavis put full effort into the bowl. (i know excuses, but he clearly didn't care enough to make adjustments)

I think 08 and 14 are a tie.

We had two, 2+ TD losses in both seasons (well 3 in '08), we also lost to Bama in OT in both years. While we won a bowl game in '08, we lost a bowl game in '14. In '08 we lost a close game to Arky and in '14, lost a close game to MSU.

I mean when you think about it, those two seasons have a lot in common.

You mean the year our OL belonged in a Mash unit with all the injuries?

You don't want to bash, but you want to discuss his worst year.

I wonder how many really good SEC coaches can say their worst year in a decade was 8-5.

They had A ton of talent , but didn't let Mett loose till later than they should have, And then when Hill emerged the O was legit. Even in the Bama game..... The Clemson is a wash for me because that team didn't want to be there and they had so many playrs looking NOT to get hurt because of raft stock.

2008 had a decent offene but a real bad D, Plus IMO Miles had lost THAT team with all the distractions of RP plus losing the leadership of the 2007 top players.... IMO they had NO leader type player until PP. And def did not have one last yer.............

2008 and it's not even close.A bunch of people we say last year but with the new qb and recievers it wasnt. Youth hurt us last year, coaching and coaches hurt us in 08

Sorry this was not a close game.....

I say 2008 because of the RP factor. Miles LOST his tam will all the chances he gave to the guy that was supposed to be the leader on offense... The attitude that whole year was just not right....

Not many, which is why I said in the OP that I liked him....

I don't really get the point of what you're trying to say. Talking about the elements of a coach's worst season is not bashing him.

It's like you're trying to find some hidden detail in my post cause you're convinced that I'm a Miles hater (IDK how you approached that conclusion). Then once you assume I am, you point out to me one of the positive aspects of his career to dispute my hatred of Miles even though I said in the OP that I liked him and wasn't bashing him.
