There is already a court settlement where he was paid because he was slung off from eating lead paint chips.

He also has multiple.... a shite ton of arrest

Does Freddie Grey appear to be the type of person that would act in a logical way?

I've seen with my own eyes a drunk slam his own face into a cage in a police car so hard in a matter of seconds over and over enough to need facial surgery.

There was a sane, sober guy in our jail on a misdemeanor arrest jump from the top bunk head first trying to kill himself.

People do shite sometimes that most would not think is logical.

But maybe that's not the narrative you're wanting in this situation.

I don't have a narrative. I rarely take a side, and if I do, it's only to argue against the middle. I'm a contrarian by nature.

I simply find hard to fathom that a shackled man, experienced with the legal system, that knows he's getting picked up for at most a misdemeanor, would manage to work himself up to the point where he could hit his head against the side of a van hard enough to sever his spine from a seated position.

It's more likely that the injuries were suffered during the course of the arrest, rather than some rough ride. That might have exacerbated the injuries, but spinal injuries are tricky, I know from personal experience that your can have a broken back and move around just fine...for awhile. Then, everything goes haywire.
