I wonder how accurate everyone's gas budget is - I thought I was spending about $200 on gas in my old truck, and it turns out I was spending closer to $350!

I think we may be overestimating our gas budget. Living in a small college town has its perks. My wife drives maybe five minutes to work. I bike to class.

To the other person - Yes, it's VERY tight. Very, very, very tight. But that's what happens when you're miserable in a job, resign from it, jump into graduate school (on fellowship), and have a baby all at the same time.

I am curious where people think we could cut. What really hurts us are the credit card bills ($125/month), student loan ($140/month), and grocery store bullshite. I put $900, but that's rarely accurate. We always find a way to go over.

Where do you normally shop? Do y'all have access to farmer's markets? Sometimes produce is a lot cheaper there than at the store. My SO and I recently started living together and we rarely go over. I know you have a kid so I assume diapers and stuff are in that number? I see you have another cat called necessities, what is that? Oh and try shopping around for auto insurance. You may be able to get it down some.
