These games have nearly 30 million players a day worldwide and the championships are watched by a sizable portion of the globe every year.
I don't blame ESPN for jumping on this bandwagon.
There is a shitload of money in video game competitions.
I, personally, don't watch or play this stuff, but it is no different than showing poker or any of the other multitudes of "sports" they show on ESPN.

It is pretty crazy that watching other people play video games will become a billion dollar industry in a few years.

Exactly.
This game isn't even the biggest of it's genre.
eSports has hundreds of millions out there waiting to be made.
Ironically enough, we were all told growing up "You can't make a living playing video games!"

Exactly. They show fricking baseball all the time, so everything should be fair game, IMO.
