Plenty of good area to live along the Northshore all the to Denham. I would avoid the Hammond public schools. Ponchy public schools are good. Why commute when everything is here. I couldn't say this in the past put currently Ponchatoula High has the best athletics in this area. Anything you want to know or need to find out let me know. Will help all I can ponchytiger@yahoo.com

I'm from pumpkin center, went to ponchatoula schools, and now live in Hammond. With the way the NAACP has hit Tangi parish with the deseg saga, Hammond not has the best schools in the parish. Thanks to the extra property taxes that passed to
Make every school in Hammond a magnet school, with different curriculums at the junior/high school level, IB programs, etc. (btw I was not and still not in favor of the taxes because I don't think making one school district better makes the entire parish better).

My daughter will go to Holy Ghost and saint Thomas, but if I had to I have no issue putting her through Hammond now. Unfortunatly these new Hammond programs killed the once great ponchatoula school district.
