I saw it in IMAX and the sound/music was wayyyyyy too loud causing me to miss out on some of the dialogue.

Yep, excessive volume not only damages your hearing (I often use ear plugs in theaters) but is also a major distraction. Timely balance is the key to quality sound. When a movie insists on loud music/background noise drowning out the dialogue, then at least provide subtitles.
