That's what I'm questioning. And I don't know how it goes with a dog. But it baffles me that there could be NO problems at all and 6 days later it's " he's got cancer , probably best to put him down". That's not a good enough answer for me.

I know you're upset, but don't be too critical of the vets. Their goal is to end the animals suffering. If they think he's crashing, they're gonna do what is best for the dog. That said, if they can keep him stable and comfortable overnight, maybe the situation will be clearer in the morning.
