I've heard it from a bunch of people in healthcare and seen it online too. I guess the concept of bringing the snake to the hospital was a thing at some point, but everyone who has ever talked to me about medical care from snake bites said the opposite (quite forcefully). I just googled and saw some references to "some sources have recommended killing and bringing the snake to the hospital" but I also found some NIH publications talking about why it should be discouraged for people to bring the snakes.

Met a guy in college who kept 2 pet rattle snakes. I informed him they were not pets. He disagreed. I said, " then pet them!"

Dumbass.
