Yes, but other than the copycat slide into hair metal starting in 1987, Whitesnake was a kick arse rock n' roll band for many years before the hair metal scene ever happened.

Coverdale and Jimmy Page formed the band Coverdale Page in the 90's. A lot of people I knew hated it
Said Coverdale was trying to sound like Plant, Zeppelin ripoff, etc.
They kinda did sound like them, I liked it though .
