The acting is way better in empire.
No, it really isn't, and the screenplay for Star Wars is infinitely better, measured by the fact that its lines are quoted far more often. Sure, Empire gives you the often misquoted "Luke, I am your father," but that's about it. Star Wars has a wealth of quotable lines.

Ah. Now I understand. Some wormy-lipped fat guy told you what to think and you've been parroting it ever since. Yeah, that happens a lot in showbiz and elsewhere. One ideologue will say something from his ivory tower and the chorus will fall in line like dominoes. It's like Citizen Kane. No one has the balls to dispute it for fear of being kicked out of Brigadoon.

I've never gotten the hate for Jedi. I think it comes down to an age thing. I was born the year Star Wars was released so Jedi was the first one I remember seeing at the theater. I will never forget that feeling. I even liked the Ewoks, but I was 6 and they were kind of made for me. Also, comparing it to the prequels pisses me off.
Well, based on the comments we've read so far, it would seem to have a lot to do with the making of toy money. I guess Empire is more communist or something.

One thing's for sure. Gary Kurtz is definitely Fox's boyfriend.

Actually I very much disliked Roger ebert. your assesment isn't far from my own

But you say industry, and every review you'll find reads like that. I actually didnt understand that I liked empire more until about 10 years ago. After buying the trilogy 500 times I just instinctively put in empire first

enpire is only so great because it improves so much on the original, so I wouldn't dare dismiss the original. Splitting hairs. I am watching the original tonight. i also think the force awakens would do better to follow the footprint of Star Wars rather than empire. I hope we get the movie we've been waiting for. There's a lot of cause for optimism.

Say what you will about the prequels, but in the end they just don't connect. They're boring.

Nothing wrong with toy making, but you can't let the cart come before the horse. Jedi also reuses ideas. Even if you think empire isn't better. It definitely expands upon the force, and brings new ideas and new characters (not that jedi doesn't do new things)

Youre either dumb or have a terrible memory. The top 7 quotes here are are all from Empire. Argue the subjectivity of the list if you want but to say "I am your father" is the only line frommEmpire thats quotable is not remotely close to correct.
