I have spent the last half year getting ready to start my own brand of athletic apparel. I have trademarked several logos and marketing slogans. Will be happy if I am half as successful as Kevin has been over 19 years. I have a five phase growth plan that spans 15 years and I am getting ready to hit the road (literally) with my phase I initiative. Wish me luck.

Under Armour was originally called Body Armour and he couldn't get a trademark for it. His brother or friend asked how his Under Armour stuff was going on accident and Kevin Plank liked it so much he immediately went off to apply for a trade mark.

He actually used the british spelling because he wanted the phone number to be 1-800-4ARMOUR instead of 44ARMOR. No joke, he said he wasn't sure if that internet thing was going to catch on.

Good luck but its pretty black and white, people aren't half as successful, they are just successful or not. He had an in at Maryland, that helped him tremendously.
