The 637-2 has a small external lock on the left side of the frame below the hammer in which you can use an included factory key to lock the action. Interwebz rumors say it can fail and lock up when the gun is in use. Mine never did, but I like the thought of keeping it simple without the lock.
The 637-1 does not have the lock. Otherwise, they are the same gun.
