I'm having trouble with my motor not wanting to idle correctly after making a decent run across the lake. Does my throttle cable need adjusting? I can kill it quickly and fire it back up and it revs up to about 5k... can anyone give me some advice?

My cousin had pretty much the exact same thing happen on his 225 4 strokes. You'd crank the engines and they'd rev up really quickly until you killed it. I don't remember what the issue was, but it took him a little while to get a mechanic who figured it out. It screwed up 2 snapper trips though when we thought the issue was fixed. Nothing like pounding beers idling back to the camp at 7:00 am cuz you know your day of fishing is already shot .
