That's my point, to an extent.
It's not like the only patrons there are people passing through to do some shopping. People in Ascension are very fond of their chain restaurants and therefore the local dining suffered as a result of the inability to invest in high-quality establishments.

Nah local dining is doing just fine....
places like Kevins, Swamp Pop, Dempsey's, Sammy's, Tommy's Fish House, Nooley's, Griffin Grill, Burger Delight, Starlight Cafe, etc etc etc.... are all still considered mom and pop type restaurants that are just fine.
Will you find a 4* type establishment, no as the closest thing you would have would be a Mike Anderson's on 30 but that is it since Sno's has gone downhill (imo)
But Gonzales/Prairieville area has a ton of local joints that offer great food for the price, a ton of gas stations and grocery stores offer meals that are on par with many restaurants.
