Mudhoney's Overblown is the single most "grunge" song ever made. I love the story about how they were forwarded $20,000 to record an original song for the soundtrack, so they pocketed the money, recorded this song in a single take in the basement of Mark Arm's mom's house for a couple of hundred bucks, and were done in time for Mark Arm's mom to make them brownies.
See, Nirvana.... THAT'S how you reject mainstream success. Take your big chance and record a song about how your scene is dumb.
