ULL has an online program for RN to BSN that takes 12 months and cost $9500.

Only reason I'm doing the program I mentioned is that they do direct bill tuition reimbusement with my hospital. So once my name comes up on the waiting list....hospital pays them directly and I'm responsible for the difference. Hospital gives us 5500 a year. Plus....this program is fully online and starts up every 2 weeks. They also give a discount to our hospital so that normal 18-20 is more like 14-16k for employees at our hospital....11k of which work will cover. I'm number 53 on the waitlist so hopefully soon.

why are the classes $4500 a semester? does that seem high especially for BRCC? Im trying to find the cheapest tuition cost due to the fact that I am not sure if the financial aid would cover the whole amount.
This was from a couple pages back. . . I'll just leave it here again.

Went to the nursing school off Julia St. And there program takes 2 yrs at $4500 a semester.
each semester at BRCC has been about $1000-1500 after all fees, depending on how many classes were taken. . .
(I pretty much followed the curriculum plan that is on the BRCC website)
and to add to that, I will be applying to ULL's RN to BSN program either in the fall or next spring. . . cost is a little over $8k and can be completed within 10 months, all while employed full time.

Another consideration for ADN vs BSN is what does it take to get into that school.
I considered ADN because it would only take 2 yrs but I knew my gpa wasn't great and the AD program wanted a gpa of like 3.8. AND there was a waiting list. How many students does the school take each semester?
I went BSN many years ago because, as it turned out, that was my shortest route.
Each school has their bullshite hoops that they want you to jump thru. Just be aware.
Go to the school and make sure they take all the credits she has accumulated. Sometimes schools get very picky when all your prerequisite are taken somewhere else.
You didn't spend any money at that school and their loyalty may be with those that did.
I have heard it's better now, but it used to be horrendous.

Yeah OLOL and their nursing school had this bs requirement of some stupid studying class....that you can only take there. So you had to enroll there and take that class....before you could even apply to their school. At least that was the case long ago when I applied to BRGSON. And they had waitlists for OLOL's program as well back then(I started nursing school in late 90s).

Without reading the rest of the thread...
With nursing, you don't go into a specific field per se. You go where the money is, and where your interests lie. For instance, I am an ER nurse here in BR, but if I felt like it, I could move to surgery, ICU, etc.
As for demand... She'll never not have a job or job options.
Base salary for a new nurse in or around BR is low to mid $20's per hour before shift differentials... You make your $$$ by working nights, weekends, and overtime.
Going through an actual University/College is best IMO. Everything is moving toward all nurses eventually having BSN's, and all programs becoming BSN programs anyway. Also, there are very few diploma programs left (i.e. BRG). Going through a BSN program is maybe one more year, and fewer hoops to jump through down the road. However, some of the best nurses I know only have an ADN or RN diploma.
