I have a really bad back. I've been limited to walking for three years which I do religiously-on average 6 miles a day, five days a week. I always try for 30 miles a week which is the maximum my back seems to tolerate. I walked 14 miles on the Beach on Sunday and could hardly move on Monday. It's a lot different in your late 40's than when you are 35 for most people. When I was in my 20's I rode my bike across South Korea, did Ride The Rockies in 97 LINK and hiked/climbed a half dozen 14ers, so I know how to exercise. Moral of the story-protect your back. Too much trail-running killed mine.
You do more exercise than most people posting on this board (including me).
IKWYM, at 53, staying in shape is a little more challenging than at 33.
