I wouldn't take more than $500 for the month if it was a nicer place than mine, same commute to work, and there was some food and beer in the house.

$50 for getting a dog for a month, $450 for having to deal with a cat.

Being nicer doesnt mean anything imo. Youre still living away from your own place for a month. Sorry but I have a life also and then I have to mow this frickers lawn and take care of his animals while my house chores pile up an hour away.

A grand is getting off easy. If its just the pets, OP can hire a service to come feed them. And a lawn service to mow.

Asking a friend to do this is kind of shitty

Makes little sense .. A dog is 50 times the maintenance a cat is ..
