In college one year we scored student tickets for the Final Four in San Antonio. Only catch was we had to pick up the tickets at the Alamo Dome. We figured we'd make a road trip, pick up some cash, party a bit, and be back to campus for the championship game Monday night.
Two cars and 8 guys left Chapel Hill around 4pm Thursday, drove straight through rotating drivers and passing blunts. I got the shite end of the stick driving through Houston during morning rush hour and no sleep. We get to the Alamo Dome, pick up our ticket packs and immediately sell them to a scalper. We took our $1200 each and went to the River Walk for a steak dinner and beers.
After a few hours we hit the road for New Orleans, figuring that it was good luck to watch the Saturday games there since the Tarheels won two championships in that great city. Spend the day drinking and having a great time until the Tarheels lose to Utah. Console ourselves with overpriced shitty cocaine purchased from a stranger and strippers in the quarter.
Long drive back on Sunday.
One of the most irresponsible and memorable 72 hour stretch during the college years.
