Historically, political satire has always taken a position or idea and promoted it.

yeah but they rotate between satire and legitimate news/points. that's his point. they play both sides

when the serious journalism side is challenged, they hide behind the "it's just a comedy!" claim

*ETA: i enjoy the daily show as a comedy piece but i prefer the colbert report (RIP). colbert was funnier adn didn't try to pretend to be a news show
