Yep. The 80's is widely known as the worst defensive era... and Jordan never averaged 50.

PS - another cool stat is the average NBA player is 6'7 and its been that way since 1980. Averaging about 10 lbs heavier now however.

Jordan was an extremely smart player and everyone knows it. He wouldn't have to shoot 13 more shots a game like people are saying. He would be a master of getting to the FT line a la Harden, and bump his PPG up 5 points just in that way.
50 is a crap ton, but he's not the first person to say something like that. I think it's not unrealistic to think he could score 35+ for 5 seasons straight, with a season or two right around 40. There aren't many guys who are as competitive as he is, and that is what drives you to greatness
