You made the post:

for his apologists who were defending him with the same rhetoric. "I've been doing this longer", "I see them every day"...

I asked how is the "rhetoric" you belittle wrong. If you don't want to deal with a part of your own post, don't post it.

You seem to have a massive, arrogant hard on for a pretty successful baseball coach who has taken 2 different programs to the CWS a total of 4 times. Do your friends call you Smoke?

It's one thing to be critical...we all do it. It's another thing to be critical over and over and over. I'm sorry, but you couldn't carry PM's baseball jock if your life depended on it. Stop acting as if you have all the answers and anyone who might not agree with you is simply some ones "apologists".

Thanks for stopping by.

You know what's wrong? Paul Mainieri thinking that fans can't watch the scrimmages and the games and have a decent opinion on LSU players. Ell attended most of the fall and preseason scrimmages, as did many other posters on this site. There was an unofficial scrimmage stats posted here back in February. The kid that CPM refused to bunt is a true freshman without a career hit and he hit under .200 in all combined scrimmages. Paul Mainieri deserves to feel heat for that decision that helped lose that game, and him "doing this longer" and "seeing them everyday" does not excuse his poor decision to allow the kid to swing away into a double play. Paul Mainieri deserves to feel the heat for having him in the game period at that point. Why was he in the game??? Because Mainieri has a fetish for matchups.

I never said it was wrong. It's rhetoric because it doesn't address the situation at all. It isn't relevant. Hence, "rhetoric".

Over and over and over? I disagree with his lineups sometimes. Everyone here has. That's not critical. It's just a differing opinion. I've said that I don't agree with playing Chinea at first. And it bit us Friday. It was a small part of the game thanks to all the other massive mistakes and flukes, but he missed 3 big plays, one to let the two runs score.

This has been my one criticism of one of his in-game decisions... a criticism almost everyone has shared.

This is great. I certainly don't act like I have all the answers. I simply say what I think and expect those who think differently to defend themselves. I've been wrong here plenty of times. And I'll own it every time. Bregman batting 5th anyone?

And I'm not calling people who disagree with me apologists. Just those who will defend Paul's decisions Friday night. That's a huge leap you are making and doesn't represent my post at all.
