This is odd to me and it reads like Mainieri is feeling pressure from somewhere. A coach of a team thats 23-5 and ranked in the top 5 shouldn't have to defend his decisions after a loss. Not only that but it comes off from PM as "I know more about baseball than you so STFU."

Did you watch LSU play this weekend?
There was a lot of WTF going on and CPM was at the center of his fair share of it.
Honestly, he should have just said "Yes, there are some things I wish I would have done differently. Period, end of story".
A mini mea culpa and some baseball platitudes would have been appropriate, but he really doesn't like to accept any blame.
