He got arrested for that?
I've been pulled over for making a U-turn into a valet parking lane that was on the other side of the street... because there was no center line on the road (2-way traffic on a brick street in a "historic area" of a city in Texas). Didn't matter that there were no cars coming from the other direction.
Could this be a similar situation?
...because that is a moving violation and not something you can be arrested for unless you are doing it in an unsafe manner.
AND he said to go ahead and give him the ticket.
This is trumped up BS IMO.
FWIW - I got pulled over for doing the exact same thing the valet drivers did all the time and it was at my place of employment (I was scooping a coworker who was finishing up while I grabbed my car). Sports car with Louisiana tags was probably why I was singled out.
