There wasn't a wing better than Babbitt or Miller available? They couldn't have found someone other than Salmons?

They were turned down by Alan Anderson and Richard Jefferson. Not that those are big names, but part of the problem was only havving $2.7 million to work with, possibly only the $2 we gave Salmons if my $75 million payroll theory is accurate. Cole and Pondexter were both trade filler, it's not like Rivers for Pondexter or Salmons for Cole would ever have happened as 1 for 1 swaps for #basketballreasons. Now choosing Miller and Salmons over Casspi seems like a reasonable criticism, although it's unclear who didn't want who when it comes to Casspi and how he ended up getting waived.

There were other guys out there besides Anderson and Jefferson that were also better than Salmons.

Sitting tight on the wing was a risky play. I give Demps credit for finding help without giving anything up. But it was a large gamble to roll into this season that way. He had no way of knowing he would get a QPon/Cole type. They couldn't even give Rivers away this summer. Again, good moves in season, but I'm not a fan of the desperation necessitating those moves
