LSU has to get the quarterback piece right after finishing 114th in passing average (162.9 ypg), 109th in QBR (35.4) and 119th in completion percentage (50) last season, when Jennings started all but one game.

Last place in the SEC in a number of passing categories, how could anyone not recognize that we need dramatic improvement at QB, and Miles and Cameron have that well in hand it seems.

Without Harris' numbers we are 125th in completions, rising from 128th after the ARK game.

Passing: The Achilles's Heel of Les Miles offense is currently undergoing intensive therapy with "the best results seen since Mett". The goal of 70% completions will "likely take >275 ypg passing" and over 500 ypg total offense to win the West and compete for an NC with elite modern offenses like OSU, ORE, TCU, Baylor, and ALA who average over 300 YPG passing. The top 47 teams averaged over 250 ypg and the top 15 over 300 ypg passing. Jennings averaged 124 yds/game with a 118 rating to Harris' 175 rating.

2014 LSU Passing ranked last in the SEC but with the combined efforts of Jennings 11 TDs and Harris' quick 6 TDs and 91 pts which accounted for 35% of 17 passing TDs, and 25% of the total scoring offense in ~1.5 games of playing time. We finished at 50% completion and under 2000 yds which ranks 116th, a little off the pace of 3900 and 4700 passing yds by ALA and ORE, for example.

Question for you Quid Pro Quo: I see you posting valuable information, and putting your own thoughts and opinions into it. The quantity of reading material you provide is above and beyond the call, and I find it good reading. That being said, why is everyone seeming bashing you for this?

It's easy to play armchair quarterback or coach watching from a distance. It's a lot harder when you have a lack of inexperience at the most vital offensive position with players struggling as is, a season ago with a simplified, watered down game plan. People like you were calling to to make an already huge issue into an even bigger clusterfrick by asking two young quarterbacks to throw even more when they couldn't handle what was already on their plate. I don't give a damn what profession you want to use but no matter what, anyone with any common sense isn't going to ask someone else on their job to do something above what they have already been prepared for or something above what they have already mastered.

Having a high completion percentage has absolutely nothing to do with averaging a certain amount of passing yardage per game. You post a bunch of crap along with a ton of opinionated bullshite & you have some people eating this shite up as fact. After proving to you just last week that Alabama still ran a pro style offense last season despite it being more uptempo, you have changed your tune from saying they were a spread team to this.

elite modern offenses

Which was exactly the case in 2013 with an experienced quarterback especially with one of most important offensive stats of all, 3rd down conversion percentage. You don't lose the valuable experience of a Hill, Mett, Landry & Beckham at one time & expect to duplicate that type of success the following year. Stevie Wonder could have seen the offensive production dropping down in 2014 & he hasn't seen anything EVER.

Also you act like all the offenses you listed are doing something new & special when in fact they are only several different concepts from "old" offenses.

The air raid spread used by the majority of the Big XII & Texas A&M, is nothing more than the old school run & shoot from 80s. The only aspects that are different are the pistol formation & read option elements used to freeze outside edge rushers, strong safeties & inside linebackers. Same damn concept with these elements sprinkled in.

What Malzahn runs at Auburn is the same passing wise as the air raid but he adds in the power run aspects of the veer & wishbone. These aren't any new innovative offensive concepts. It's just a bunch of old stuff combined together to look "modern". Same thing goes for the offenses Urban Meyer has run over the years.
