One criticism I have of crossfit (more of a criticism of the Army) happened during my last year in the Army. There would be a weekly cf level 1 workshop that hand picked soldiers from their company could attend. Would not cost the soldiers a dime.

My understanding is that the lecture material can be advanced or too scientific for people who hadn't majored in kinesiology. At least at my installation this was a common complaint the majority of the failures had failed the written exam.

I begged to get certified (I have an ms in exercise use physiology) and my company never chose me to attend it. With that said I am unsure how many soldiers from 3rd I'd where I was at actually understood the method and the intricate techniques of snatches clean and jerks. This can be a huge problem if the majority are not learning about programming, technique, scaling etc.

A buddy of mine owns a "box".....what a great sales term by the way. It was an investment in a trend with several physiological advantages that backed it. Which is basically what the sales pitch was to him to start the box. Of course it has really made him some money. I've jumped in from time to time to watch for entertainment value. It truly is a collection of geeks and highschool non athletes that now feel like jocks at the age of 30. The thing I always ask him is how none of his sheepeople ask him how he got in such great shape before cultfit? He has no answer. The guy has worked out for 20 years and is phenomenal shape. All done before cultfit hit the scene. It just amazes me how gullible people are and the power of having to be apart of a group.
