Do not buy - rent an apartment off of MLK/corporate area in Houma

If you decide on Houma do this. Prices should start falling soon with people getting laid off from the oil field. Prediction are that this will be about a 2 year downturn. Luckily, I don't ride the O&G waves but buying a house is more expensive here than buying in Dallas. It is the only reason I'm still apartment trash.

Can't stress how true this is. There really isn't many options for activities and Houma isn't outdoor friendly otherwise. There's more than a few people who struggle to fit in, myself included, because they don't hunt or fish.

Houma traffic can be a nightmare at times but still not as bad as NOLA or BR.

I can't deny that the traffic for this size of town is bad. However, I give anyone who says they have to drive "all the way to the east side" a dumb look. Live in a town of more than 60k why don't you.

As a native of Houma, I can't understand how you can't fit in. I never noticed a shortage of eclectic groups in town. I mean you have a shite ton of doctors, lawyers, professionals, blue collar types. It's not just a fishing/ hunting town. Why are you people struggling?
