Go pelini coached the bcs title game and everyone in the country knew he was taking the job. It worked out fine.

Pelini had earned a HC job at a prominent program in another conference, had Miles blessing to take the job and was coaching for a National Championship. He earned that job from the success he had at LSU and left LSU with no ill will towards the school, the AD or Les Miles. He did everything above the board.

Chavis was negotiating behind the scenes with an in-division rival for a lateral move, possibly at the expense of thoroughly preparing for a meaningless bowl game.

Yeah, they are the same thing.

Yes very true and Pelini stayed around to help us win the National Championship when many coordinators who get head coaching jobs before the bowl games leave for their new school right away. The Ohio State offensive coordinator took the Houston job but stayed as well. I'm sure it was tough on them doing 2 jobs at the same time, but it worked out well at the time for everyone involved as both had their hearts and focus on the job to win the NC.

Chavis was working for a new boss exclusively and didn't have his heart nor focus on our bowl game. He should have done the right thing and left for College Station before bowl preparations and let someone who really wanted to win prepare the defense.
