So let me guess, you are a dad that coaches a travel ball team. Do you teach how to bunt properly? How to field a ground ball propery? A bunt defense? Fly ball communication? When to hold on the runner at 1st and when not to? 1st and 3rd situations and how to handle them offensively and defensively? How to take a lead? How to move a runner from 2nd with 0 outs to third? How to score a guy from 3rd with less than 2 outs?
Or do you just set a lineup and say go 45 times a year and think you are Bobby Cox?

Not a dad either but i played both travel ball and in a public rec league in my youth. And yes we learned all of those things and executed them in games just like every other team we played. The rec league was much more like what you described. This probably varies locationally, I understand some rec leagues probably have great players and coaches, but i think it is safe to assume that parents who are willing to invest thousands of dollars in tournament fees and travel costs year round probably care more about teaching the sport than the 2 month rec league parents?
