The 1st Mass Effect I played was ME2 so I got used to the much smoother and prettier gameplay (Had the same problem with Morrowind). Don't know why but if I play the sequels before I play the originals a lot of times I dislike the originals

which is exactly why i typically recommend people to play sequels or games in a series in order of release date, especially if you are plying the games back-to-back. its hard to go back to the older graphics and controls.
