I'd rather them change the fact that an 18 yard field goal counts the same as a 60 yard FG. I think 55 yarders should be worth 4 points.

Can everyone put their pitchforks down? This was just a proposal. They've got 23 of them. This has zero shot of ever happening

This is an awful idea. Why punish a team for driving down the field but coming up a bit short? Teams shouldn't get more points for not going as far.
Plus what if someone has a 3rd and long but just outside of 55 yard FG range. What if they start wasting plays to go backwards to kick the longer FG? Just would be dumb

Damn it. I hate you so much for saying this. A field goal rewards teams for a successful drive. If this rule was allowed, you would have teams purposely going backwards when they needed more points. Talk about a derp fest.
