Watch, desalinization is going to make some serious strides with experimentation in the next couple months... I guarantee it.
I've read a couple of articles that they have reproduced more efficient ways of desalinizing water in labs. It's still not the cheapest way to make drinking water, i.e. water wells, but I read it's way better than past trials.
They could also call Israel, being shot at for a number of years over issues, including the dwindling water reservoirs, will make you figure shite out pretty quick.

I reside in North Texas and we have been in a drought status for quite some time now. We are now using recycled waste water and doing so has extended our available water for about three years, assuming nothing changes. We have been rationing water for about 2/3 years now .... we have lost trees and agriculture has been impacted. I hope the Texas legislature would stand up a program using water from the Gulf...I can only imagine what it would cost but droughts are no fun whatsoever....doing so, inv, would be a wise investment

They get a large percentage of their water supply from desalination... 40%?
It's not ideal, but it's probably going to be necessary unfortunately.
