I'm in sales and have a family of six kids at home.
My strategy is this. Almost everyday when I walk in the door, my phone goes on silent. I kiss the babies and then take 10 minutes to do nothing. After that I play with my kids and do chores/ projects around the house. All the while, my phone is on silent and stays that way until after dinner when I sit down with a beverage of choice. I'll check it out make sure there are no fires then put the phone in the mud room.
I've almost never missed something I shouldn't have.

First I provide in my emails sig and voicemail an emergency number to call and secondly (most importantly) this is not an absolute! Balance is the key
