Slight nitpick here. There's a human lifetime and NFL lifetime.

An average NFL player's shelf life is 11-12 years in the most liberal of estimates and Colston is getting very close to that and he's already passed the most conservative estimate a couple years ago. He's a very old man in NFL years.

I don't have the graphic on me now but the average HB drops off after 29(pretty severely too from that point on). The average WR drops off after 35 or 36(more gradually) and his production from about 32 to 35 matches his production from about 24 to 27 or something close to that. 28 to 31 was the peak years I believe.

Everyone hears about HBs falling off at 30 amd thinks it applies to every position. That's the only position with that early and that steep of a drop off.

Colston will be fine.

And this will be his 10th year. Rice played 20, though that isn't the norm. And he played when they could still kill the receivers.
