This, and ask about a catheter with a pump/ball vs a one shot. Use ice liberally, or ask your doctor or PT about a cold therapy machine (Breg Polar Care is a good brand, and even if insurance doesn't pay, they aren't expensive - great for sleeping). I'm a surgeon (not ortho) - this was my first experience as a surgical patient. I believe a large portion is mental - be realistic about the discomfort you will feel and focus on how much better you will be when it does heal. And I'm serious about the ice.
