Go back to the fly rod.
The small white popper has slayed thousands of bream for me.
Not exaggerating either...I have had the same Cortland Fly 5/6 wt rod since 1993 and changed the line out 5 times.....thousands of bream caught. They bend the rod.
Only about 100 largemouth bass caught, but bream or bluegill are plentiful and pleasant to catch.
